New swim workout

This has been the week for new workouts for this old dog. First was Tuesday’s CNY Tri club’s yoga class. I thought I would be spending time contemplating my navel and smelling incense, not receiving a general ass kicking for an hour.

Saturday I was late for my swim and weight workout at the downtown Y. I asked at the desk how long lap swimming went for when a pleasant lady asked if I was interested in trying a Masters Swim workout. I thought for a moment and had a preconceived notion of something low intensity and complicated (never having used flippers, board and floats etc. in a swim workout) . Well, I decided to go for it and managed to get in some stretching and ab work just before the class started.

Well, long story made short, 1hr.20min and much swallowed pool water later, I have a new respect for Masters swimmers. I am quite sure that this new form of water punishment will help me knock several minutes off my below avg. swim times.

Bottom line re; Sat. am Masters Swim, “I’ll be back” . -B

Resistance training with Mother Nature

December Sunday morning. 35 degrees, sunny but a brutal wind out of the south with 30 mph gusts.
The beautiful thing about training in CNY through the year is the endless challenge provided by the weather and Mother Nature.
The first third of my 11 mile run was severely uphill and into a nasty gale. Little did Mother Nature know that I was running with the funk sound help of Rick James and Sly Stone. -B
